Makumbi Primary
Back dating from its formation around 1930, the school has seen the ages of growth through numerous drawbacks and achievements together.
St Lazarus Makumbi Pry School is a Catholic school run by the Jesuit Education.
Father Helman Kaibach initiated the start of the school in 1925. It started with small huts built by pole and dagga. It ran up to 1930 and there was a chicken pox outbreak and out of fear parents withdrew their children and only 8 learners were left so the school was closed temporarily. Father Kaibach was then moved to somewhere else. In 1930 Bishop Clichester landed looking for a place to start the LCBL sisters’ novitiate. It took him 6 months from England to SA by ship. He chose the Makumbi area to start the LCBL novice. Now that LCBL was running it invited a lot of visitors therefore the Makumbi primary school was born again in 1931.

Sister Balica
A big number of learners started absenting themselves from school because they were fighting off baboons from their crops. This then called for a boarding school. Then in 1932 St Lazarus became a boarding school. Learners came later in 1979 the boarding school in logistics. The day school never closed up to date. The school was run in two parts. The Echess and the lower primary school was run by Sister Magnor Augustine. The school was built by Saint Lazarus and hence it was named after him. The first Headmaster to be appointed to the school was Mr Kanya. He was coming from Kutama College.

It is essential that everyone feels like an equal partner in Education. Client will be pleased to note that the school will;
• Ensure that holistic quality education is delivered to all learners according to curriculum specifications.
• Ensure that teaching and learning materials are availed whenever they are available
• Ensure that registration of new learners is done before the beginning of each learning course.
• Encourage and assist formal and non-formal learners throughout their learning course and issue results termly.
• Serve all stakeholders within five (5) minutes of arrival.
• Identify children’s problematic areas and suggest possible remedies in the course of time.
• Make a follow up on learners who absent themselves from school after eight (8) hours of working period.
• Ensure that all grievances from its clients are addressed and treated fairly within seven days of working period.
